Authorities in Jacksonville, Florida, said there were “multiple fatalities” at a mass shooting Sunday at a bar that was hosting a live gaming event during which 12 gunshots could be heard.

The Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office said on Twitter that “many” had been transported but additional details were not immediately available.

The office reported that one gunman was dead at the scene and it was unclear whether there was another. Officials said searches were continuing.

Here we go again. So far, we have been incredibly lucky. So far, none of the psychos has got his gun at a gun show, or from an online ad. They have all passed backgrounds checks, or stolen the guns so background checks were irrelevant.
Let's hope gamer boy here was not the exception.

Update: The Jacksonville Landing "Rules of Conduct" ban permitted concealed handguns on their grounds: "Possession of a weapon, even if legally carried (except by law enforcement officers) is absolutely prohibited on Landing property." Don't expect the media to report this.

Just read on The Liberty Daily site the shooter parents were from Albania and came here by winning the immigration lottery.

Heavily armed agents have entered a Baltimore townhouse, the home of the father of the suspect in a deadly shooting at a video game tournament in Jacksonville, Florida.
Jacksonville Sheriff Mike Williams said investigators believe 24-year-old David Katz of Baltimore was the shooter in an attack Sunday afternoon that left three people dead, including the suspect with a self-inflicted gunshot wound. Eleven others were reported injured.
An FBI spokesman, Dave Fitz, confirmed agents had gone to the upscale townhouse home. But he did not immediately release any other specifics, citing an ongoing investigation.
The agents could be seen inside the home Sunday evening near Baltimore's Inner Harbor. They wore bulletproof vests and carried [highlight=yellow]rotating machine guns[/highlight]. Reporters who gathered outside did not see any authorities carrying any bags of evidence outside.

I give up. What is a rotating machine gun? (I'm guessing they were not carrying GE miniguns.)
And is it a full-auto, semi-auto, or full-semi-auto rotating machine gun?

You know, people who play video games obsessively often have mental problems. How about a reasonable, commonsense (C) law requiring universal background checks for people who enter video game competitions? It's for the children.

Divorce filings from the parents of 24-year-old David Katz of Baltimore say that as a teenager he was twice hospitalized in psychiatric facilities and that he was prescribed[highlight=yellow] anti-psychotic and antidepressant medications.[/highlight]
The records show Katz's parents disagreed on how to care for their troubled son, with his father claiming his estranged wife was exaggerating symptoms of mental illness as part of their long-running and acrimonious custody battle. The couple divorced in 2007.
