I live near Wickenberg and last night I was driving out of my neighborhood onto the 60 and there was a mountain lion dead on the road. First one I have ever seen outside of a zoo. We used to always think the dogs were barking at coyotes. Makes you wonder what else is sneaking around out there.

Theres more than one around. How big was it? Maybe a young one? They are spooky around anything human related. Odd to see them get hit unless young or old.

I've seen only one mountain lion in my life and it was an accident. We were predator calling, wernt really hunting, and were hidden in a wash with out backs to the bank. He came from behind us almost over our heads. Dont know who was scared more and couldnt ask as we went one way and he went the other.

Never saw a Bobcat in the wild either till I left AZ and moved into where I'm living now. Not that wild but there are so many rabbits we have Bobcats and yotes all over the place.

Hard to tell if it was young or old the thing was pretty mangled it was a good-sized animal though

I came face to face with a juvenile mountain lion in Scottsdale (Northsight and Butherus) a few years back, closing up shop for the night. Walked out the back door, and there he was 30 feet from me. Coyotes, bobcats, mountain lions, and javalina navigate through the green belts and drainage canals to hunt the golf courses for rabbits and small dogs/cats in the golf communities. When I called AZGFD to report it, the lady on the phone said that was impossible, and it must have been a dog. I know what a f***ing dog looks like, and I know a mountain lion when I see one.

I walked up on one when hiking up Pinnacle Peak in Scottsdale early one morning. It just sat there and watched me pass. Guess I didn't look tasty enough or something.

Speaking of which, java junkie, what does mountain lion taste like?

Saw one in 2014 in the White Tank mountains on a ridge while hiking at dusk, was near the area where the mesquite canyon trail meets the willow canyon trail. Would have never known it was there if it hadn't started screaming, that sure got my attention. Also came across one in Southern Utah when I lived up there.

It was probably an 18 wheeler got this guy. I know there is a law that you can take home road kill but I didn't scrape him off the pavement.

When I was living in Wickentucky as a kid, mountain lions weren't all that uncommon.

My last house was around 44st and Baseline, in a neighborhood. I came home to a bobcat chilling in my front yard under a bush near my kitchen window, at 3 o'clock in the afternoon. AZGFD lady told me to throw rocks at it to get it to leave.

My neighbor, an old rancher told me a story about his dad, also a rancher. He was out riding one day and met a prospector, who invited the rancher to lunch. He served up a couple of steaks. The prospector asked the rancher if he knew what he was eating. The reply was, "Probably one of my beef." The prospector told him it wasn't beef, it was mountain lion.

Tastes better with catsup.

I do a fair amount of prospecting and we see tracks on occasion, never saw a cat myself though. Just yesterday there was a post from one of our members that had an encounter yesterday morning, here it is: “It was oh so real in my face when i saw this happening to us. Ther was 6 circling the truck and tent with 3 more in the wash watching. I do believe the pile of bones i discovered across from our camp was the invitation for this many. I'm glad I got out and stood my ground and got my son out the tent and in the car before one from the wash came up and sprayed his tent, then jumped on top of it! Got a couple holes to prove it!” I don't know if he got any pics or not but he was concerned about his young son for sure. When I go out prospecting with my son (Grown 20yrs old) we both have 9’s on our hips and 1 AK in the truck and 1 AR (308) in the truck. This all happened yesterday morning NE of wickenburg on the gpaa gold claims.

So where do you sell the gold dust you found?

there is a mated pair that live off a golf course in cave creek, shes been known to trapse her cubs around and play with them on the greens, happens a few times a year, male just sorta hides in the shade, been there for a half dozen years i'd say, have seen them twice, whilst i played the game. hehe, needless to say, drinks were on the club

Lots of them in the White Tanks, see them around my place every once in a while. Game and fish has collars on some of them. most of the time they stay south of Grand Avenue.

Got 2 or 3 ounces I'm considering selling. Thanks anyway.

I saw a Bobcat the last time I was Javelina hunting. It was near Castle Hot Springs and it was really cool to see. I don't think that I would be as happy to see a Mountain Lion.
