Mother of man who drowned in Tempe Town Lake plans to file wrongful death lawsuit

https://www.azfamily.com/2022/12/09/mother-man-who-drowned-tempe-town-lake-plans-file-wrongful-death-lawsuit/

You can willfully cause your own death .. and still its someone else's fault

City lost this case the day they equipped officers with water rescue equipment. Basically an admission that could indeed have done more. Why there were no rescue rings around the lake from day one is an even bigger mystery to me. Feel bad for the on-scene officers watching someone drown is some potential PTSD shit.

Of course the crooked courts will allow this lawsuit to proceed. There is money to be made by the lawyers in lawsuits. It is all about $$$!

The case will definitely generate money for a number of parties. On the other hand it is suits like this or the threat of them that drive a lot of maintenance and safety improvements by Cities.

The man went into the lake own his own. The lawyer is out to make money. Tempe should provide life rings around the lake, no one should jump in. When the Triathlons compete at Tempe Lake, divers are completely covered because of all the chemicals mixed up in the lake. Look at the lawsuits that officers will bring up if they have to go into the lake.
What about all the canals in Phoenix? And city park lakes? Whoever makes the life rings will make a fortune.

It wasn't like he fell in and the officers had to effect a rescue. Its not even like he was a suicide. He willingly climbed a fence and jumped in the water to evade the police action and judging by the pictures it must have been work because he looked a fair bit out of shape. .... at that point in my estimation he is not entitled to a damn thing. Life sucks and we make choices.

When I was a kid I had a couple of friends who were on the highschool swim team that became life guards at the beach. They said the worst thing was trying to corral a panicked person who was in danger and they often had to resort to knocking them senseless because they were dragging both of them down into the ocean in their panic.

How many things can you ask the police to be expert at? We already charge them with being psychologist and now we want them to do water rescue.

They dont need more signs or rescue rings... Use common sense and dont go in the water and if you do its on you. Not entitled to a dime.

I remember back in the 80's, people would swim in the canal. Some were rescued, some died.

We racked it up to "play stupid games", but now would be big $$$ lawsuits.

My how we have evolved.

The mere fact they have to put "do not eat" on a packet of dessicant that comes in your new shoes is evidence of how far we've devolved. People like "oh look, there's a packet of candy in my shoes".

Have a great, gun carryin', Kenpo day
