Maybe I need to change brands of .22s

that's Winchester...how old was it and how was it stored?

Don't know how old. Those are from 2 different bricks. They have been stored the same as all my other ammo. I haven't seen these problems until the last year. I don't see how storage could relate to faulty cases, anyway.

Those, along with Remington and Federal, have had maybe one or two of misfires per box, due apparently to faulty priming. Usually rotating the round works.

I was thinking if they were older or corroded, etc, that it could have weakened the casing

No signs of corrosion. The cartons are possibly 8 or 10 years old. I have shot older 22s than that without problems.

if they were from the same brick it would make a little more sense, weird...

I have only seen that with out of battery firing. Not good for sure.

Was this the red label plastic 100 round boxes of Super Speed? I have encountered this on several occasions from that stuff. It appears that when Winchester went into overdrive in 24/7 production during the .22lr shortage of 2013-2015, they let their quality control slip a bit. All of the ones I have experienced were made during that time frame, and from differwnt production lots. I averaged about 3% case ruptures.

These were in a cardboard carton, most likely the cheapest ammo the company made.

3% ruptures--that is more than I saw. Guess I will use these up in something that doesn't endanger anyone, target shooting and not hunting.

The first time I saw this, I reported it to Winchester and they reimbursed me for the brick.

CCI and Aguila seem to work well for future purchases.

I have never had any problems with CCI, some of the Remington ammo gave me feeding problems, and Aguila will not always cycle, but that is to be expected with "quieter ammo"

Sounds like maybe the ammo is OK. What about the gun? You shooting this in a .25 autopistol or something?

No problems with the guns. One an old Winchester bolt action rifle, in good shape, the other a new Ruger MKIV. Both work well with other brands.
