Indeed. But historically, because of live reporting, they've never been able to resist being able to manipulate the vote on the fly, which requires a hard line. The usual excuse/explanation is that it is merely a one way data flow reporting line, so as to provide the most up to date tallies to keep everyone informed. But in such cases, the ability to verify the directional flow during the tally process is always prohibited "for security".

Yes,...but fraudsters don't want to be defrauded by other fraudsters. Those who rig the vote are keenly aware of keeping it rigged.
