All over the news. This is going to be awesome!

Luke Air Force Base, to include the 56th Fighter Wing and the 944th Fighter Wing, along with the Arizona National Guard 161st Air Refueling Wing will honor Arizona's front line COVID-19 responders with a community flyover May 1, 2020.

"We are honored to extend our heartfelt gratitude to all the healthcare workers, first responders, military members and other essential personnel who are working on the front lines to combat the coronavirus," said Brig. Gen. Todd Canterbury, 56th Fighter Wing commander. "We want everyone to be able to look up from their homes and enjoy the display of American airpower, resolve and pride while keeping frontline defenders in their hearts."

A formation of 15 aircraft, including seven F-35A Lightning IIs and seven F-16 Fighting Falcons flying out of Luke Air Force Base and one KC-135 from the 161st ARW will begin the flyover at approximately 3:10 p.m. local and will last 50 minutes.

The flight path will bring them through Buckeye, Luke Air Force Base, Litchfield Park, Surprise, Waddell, Goodyear, Tolleson, Phoenix Metro, Tempe, Chandler, Gilbert, Mesa, Scottsdale, Deer Valley, Glendale, Peoria, Sun City West, and El Mirage. Residents along the flight path can expect a few seconds of jet noise as the aircraft pass overhead.

Residents in these areas will be able to see the flyover from the safety of their homes and should maintain all social distancing guidelines during this event. They should also refrain from traveling to landmarks, hospitals and gathering in large groups to view the flyover.

We welcome and encourage viewers to tag us on social media in photos and videos of the formation with the hashtag #LukeSalutes, #AirForceSalutes, and #FlyoverFriday.

For questions, please call the Luke AFB Public Affairs Office at (623) 856-6011.

Great to hear! I was going to take my son to the airshow last month for his birthday, and he was really bummed that it was canceled. This will be a nice little surprise for him.

Recon, strafing and bombing run for people caught not social distancing. And nukes for anyone who refuses to surrender their AR14s.

On one hand...kinda cool

Other hand...damn that can’t be cheap.

Hopefully need to log some training hours so might as well make it cool for the phx people.

Yeah, I was thinking they probably need to log this seat time anyway, so maybe not a waste of money.

This is going to be pretty exciting. I see them out in the west valley quite a bit and they are just amazing.

I used to live right outside of Holloman AFB in New Mexico and the F15’s would always break the sound barrier while flying around the Tularosa basin and White Sands Missle range.

I also used to live close to Nellis AFB in Las Vegas and the fighter jets would always be flying over head, so I love it. I watch a lot of videos in Star Wars Canyon on YT and POV vids too.

The company I work for has a location really close to nellis, our yard is right in the flight path to the runway. I love working there for a couple days,It’s always a free air show and have seen all kinds of cool stuff flying in and out of there. Last I was there a couple months back the thunderbirds where flying that day.

From what I seen this is going to happen in other State too. Great way to say thanks and log some air time. I live in the flight path in Glendale. looking forward to it.

Back in the 80's I lived in NorCal out in the middle of no where. I used to hear sonic booms multiple times a week. Plus wings of Worthogs flying low over the house was pretty normal. I even saw a low flying SR-71 going into Beale Air Force Base. Not to mention F15s/16s where pretty normal as well.

Stopped by the in-laws to watch and had a perfect view. Went right over us. Awesome to see and the kids loved it.

Sat in Surprise, watched staging flights, pass on the wat out, and pass on the way around. Social distancing had us alone under a huge shade tree with another to shade the vehicle.

Perfect view, perfect day.

I got to see one of the SR 71s take off from Osan Air Base Korea back in 84. That was the best shows that I've seen That plane took off and went almost straight up after it got off the runway. Being stationed at both Holloman and Luke, I was lucky enough to hear the sound of Freedom almost every day. But I missed the show today because I finally got out to the high desert to shoot.
