Logged off every time I come back

[mention]admin[/mention] I have been noticing that I get "logged off" every time I come back to my "open tab." I wanted to asl if this is a ME thing or a SITE thing.

It has happened on a daily basis for me now going on the last week +.
Sign on, read an article, go back to main and boom - LOG IN page. Have cleared cookies, cache etc...
Android 10 all updates.
Android 14 new phone.
Help???

I can't see why this would be happening from the site side. It has to do with your cookies and IP address. If you're changing IP's, then it could cause that.

Not changing IP's. Staying with same device. Appears to be more of a persistance setting in your IIS. Unless your Unix, quite a bit more stable .
Will be trying from laptop and station to see if problem replicates. And yes issue has replicated on mobil several times since initial report

lol... no IIS here. It runs Apache on Ubuntu Linux.

IP validation is done on the first 3 octets, so if your ISP is changing IP's on your, or you're behind a proxy or firewall that masks it or randomizes it, you will have to log in a lot more or you switch from, say, the internet on your carrier to WiFi at home, it'll see that as a new session and you will have to re-authenticate. These stricter session setting are in place because it weeds out a lot of spammers and bots.

If this were a server-side issue, it would be affecting everyone.

All I can say is that I have no cell provider network issues nor problems with any other board / chat.
One phone is T mobile and other is Verizon. And yup both drop on your site only. I will just live with it.

I'm almost always logged in on my phone and often I'm logged in on a computer that I put to sleep at night. I've never been logged out. Could be a local computer or phone setting. Maybe clear cache and cookies and log back in to see if it happens again.

There are privacy settings on phones & browsers that could impact this, like Apple's Private Relay VPN-like setting. Browsing from my phone, I have to login every time I come to the site. Or sometimes even multiple times per visit.

Newer forum software like whatever they run on sites like HKPro seems to handle session persistence but I've been out of the web hosting business for enough years that I'm not familiar with .php session or cookie management anymore. It's possible that there are session management settings that could be relaxed to help with this problem.

Yea, happens to my on Win11 computer, only time I'm on here is at home. A couple of times a week, sometime twice in a day.

Not sure why that is...I am always logged in though. Maybe once every mo th or two it asks me to relogin and usually cuz I hit back refresh and clicked a folder too quick.

The reliability of this forum software is a joke. Please update to something that doesn’t require daily logins or fix your security settings. Might I suggest XenoForo. I use it on my forums with great results and user satisfaction.
