A disturbing new study out of Rutgers just ripped the mask off. According to the data, more than half of left-wingers—yes, half—believe that murdering President Trump is at least partially justified. Nearly as many feel the same about Elon Musk.

So, how many "right-wingers" were asked if wasting liberal politician was justified if they make another try at Trump or Musk?

Wow, they asked a total of 2651 people, which then they narrowed down to 1264 based on "attention checks" and people taking too long to answer - and then weighted the survey based on "demographics." No wonder they don't really publish the raw data and how they "cleaned the dataset" as I bet it is a bunch of B.S.

So yeah, those "results" are worth about as much as my cat's literbox.


While I have zero doubt that in the current political climate people are more prone to say they support violence (on both sides) - quoting "surveys" like this aren't "helping" anything.

Generally, hitting 1000 respondents for a survey gets you a margin of error below 3%, which is pretty good.

Looking at the report, the report (pdf), we can see that a belief in justified violence is strongly correlated age. Let the kids grow up, and their blood lust fades with time.

Additionally, when framed as "How justified or not justified would someone be if they killed a powerful political leader?”, 29% of Republicans said it could be justified.
