Levi Strauss is launching a million dollar gun control campaign which includes partnering with Michael Bloomberg-funded Everytown for Gun Safety to represent pro-gun control business leaders.

Levi Strauss president and CEO Chip Bergh announced the gun control initiative via a Fortune column, in which he assured readers he is not trying “to repeal the Second Amendment.” Rather, he wants to join efforts to pressure Congress into outlawing private gun sales, i.e., sales between a neighbor and a neighbor, a father and a son, a lifelong friend and a lifelong friend, etc. In other words, Bergh wants to outlaw the very kind of gun sales Americans have enjoyed since 1791, when the Second Amendment was ratified.

Ironically, banning such sales would not have stopped a single mass shooting that occurred in the U.S. during the past 18 years, as almost every mass public attacker during those years acquired his or her guns via the very background checks Bergh wants to implement. Those who did not pass such checks simply stole their guns or otherwise accessed guns belonging to someone else.

Nevertheless, Bergh is directing Levi Strauss funding to gun control initiatives.

Bergh indicated that he assumes the company will face backlash for this decision, but he stressed that Levi Strauss has “never been afraid to take an unpopular stand to support a greater good.”

Makes me thankful that I don't own blue jeans. If I did, Wrangler would more than suffice. LS can go straight to hell.

Levi said they didn't want to be associated with truck drivers about a decade ago and pulled all their products from truck stops. So I have bought Carhartt products ever since.
People are stupid and will continue to support these fools, I make certain I do not though.

Levis are over priced anyway.
Besides, I'm too old to wear jeans. Remember that dilemma? At what age do you stop wearing jeans?

If by "jeans" you mean Levis, stop wearing them "now"!!

I didn't realize there was a dress code for how old you are.
I guess I missed that memo.
At what age am I supposed to trade in my Wranglers for a pair of plaid shorts and suspenders ?

I guess all they care about selling their way over priced foreign mad jeans is to those who wear skinny jeans? I stopped buying them when I saw some of their factories overseas. Yuck

hmm, i haven't worn long pants in, ................mighty long time, oh wait i did have to memorial and give a uelogy, so yes i did wear slacks, but have not owned a pair of jeans in 20 plus years or more, i was more of the semi dress cotton slacks, cooler, dried faster, ect.

screw'm

Were phucked if fruit of the loom goes open anti. A bunch of stinky ol bastards going commando.

Wait, now that I think of it that would be the perfect use for Levi's. Good for shit stains and crotch rot only.

Diddo,...missed that memo too! :confusion-confused: I do suspenders, every once in awhile,... but, I got'ta skip the plaid shorts, permanently!

I have not purchased a pair of Levi jeans since about 1990 when the price when through the roof and the company started catering to the "metro" crowd. This move towards gun control is not surprising as they seem to have a strong following from the SJW crowd and they are very apparently catering to their main customer base and effectively alienating the right. So much for being a "inclusive" company.

Divisive politics at its best....
