It is in fact legal for the military to be used to put down insurrections. The problem is in defining what properly is an insurrection. If an armed uprising is occurring as a result and direct response to the obliteration of our rights, and thereby the rule of law,...is it an insurrection, a rebellion, vigilatism?

The command authority will label it whatever the political power tells them to in order for the soldiers to follow the order to shoot fellow citizens. What confidence do you have that said label will in any regard be accurate? It won't. Just look at the supposed ""insurrection" they are currently claiming. What happens or doesn't happen will be a result of what the common junior officers understand (or not) and the values they hold (or not).
