Kind of a funky spot for me. Yes .. shooting at retreating bad guys as a civilian is likely to get you into trouble but I wonder if they found this way in this case because he was shooting at fleeing badguys or because he was shooting at one who was hit and on the ground.

If its the guy on the ground ... he still had a weapon and was able to return fire so was still a threat. I guess the station employee could have retreated to the building but .... what happened to shoot it until its no longer a threat and Im confused about when duty to retreat comes in.

In the end though .. you are right in that once he started letting lead fly and they ran he probably should have just taken a defensive position ...

certainly open for debate.

If the store owner was alive the DA could possibly charge him with excessive use of force or something along those lines. But to give a criminal a pass is inexcusable. This would not have happened if the robber hadn't committed a crime. Welcome to the alt-left clown world.
