S.B.102 would allow legal resident aliens to become sworn police officers.

Reminds me of the kids movie 'Madagascar' I believe it was Cedric the entertainers lemur character says "you gotta love a non-hostile takeover"

So, the bill says that legal resident aliens with 5+ years as a legal resident can now apply to join the police departments in the state of Utah.

Am I the only one who doesn't have a problem with this? They can join the military, work absolutely any other job (including jobs that require security clearances), but couldn't become cops. If this passes that will change to come in line with every other opportunity provided. I guess I just don't see why it's a problem.

No big hairy ars deal. Who cares. I dont care who comes here as long as they do it legally so.....

Well except the Employment Visa program. That's an unfair advantage that undercuts legal aliens and Americans. Even then I have a hard time blaming the immigrant. They did so legally.

So nope, no issues here.

So if you're a legal resident from China and secretly spy for the CCP you'll be able to be sworn in as law enforcement.
Gee, what could go wrong with that?

Or, maybe shoot a woman who scared you.

You’re not alone. These are the people who came legally, got a green card and are on the path to full citizenship.

We do the same thing in the military. I served with a few guys who were not citizens but were working towards becoming citizens.

The Supreme Court just reversed his conviction of 3rd degree murder. So his sentence is likely to drop to 4 years which lets him out in under 6 months because of time served and good behavior credits.

They have a strange definition of 3rd degree murder in Minnesota. He should have been charged with either 2nd degree or manslaughter. The 3rd degree was a gift to him. The AG knew it did not apply by the wording of the law, but the jurors did not. So the AG pushes 3rd degree, the jury bites the bait, cop knows he will get it overturned through appeal. This was the best case scenario for him considering he shot an unarmed woman who was calling for help.
So he is out after 3 years and a couple months of time served.

Plenty of natural born US Citizens have been spies and worked for the CIA...Aldrich Ames, David Henry Barnett, Kevin Mallory, Harold James Nicholson...it's a long list.

My soon to be wife is a canadian citizen and works for the police. She's been a green card holder for many years and has served the past decade and received numerous awards for doing so. Being the fact she had her green card she never finished the citizenship portion because well, never felt the need until she met me.

My point is, the xenophobia needs to dial it back down a few degrees. The reality is that in the next 20 years WASP's aren't going to be the primary demographic in this country. With half of the american population being pants on head retarded were going to need allies to keep our ideas in place.

I don't care who does the job as long as there is accountability and someone being professional. A green card holder is practically a citizen with the exception of voting rights and these days shows you how worthless that is.
