Will be visiting my Oro Vally house for my first time (wife been there twice) in late April.

Beside buying a gun safe somewhere, (suggestions invited, need delivery as well), I had planned on checking out the Pima Pistol Club range as it is only 15 minutes away. If I like it, will probably end up being my most frequent range.

Any other cool places to visit, please suggest. Thinking of the Tucson Rifle Club range as it is on the way to my brother's place near Rio Rico.

Depends what you're looking at to visit... theres a few historical monuments like the San Xavier Mission... all the funshops you could find in google or bing maps... you can drive up Mt Lemmon or visit the national parks... go downtown and U of A... drive up north Oracle Rd to Oracle and Mammoth and mining towns, etc.

My favorite thing is to just drive/ride around town.

Tucson trap and skeet club is beyond sweet.

The Titan missile museum is an actual missile silo u can go in and get a tour, its actually way cooler than it sounds.

Mexican bats, not as cool as it sounds but if you stand under the bridge they fly right past you. You dont need to do the offical tour but you can.

Observatory, never got to check it out but always wanted to.

Another vote for the titan missile base.

If you want a decent place to eat a steak, check out Lil Abner's

Old Tucson is closed permanently i believe. Pima Pistol Club is actually really cool, not crowded kind of off the beaten path down a dirt road. My dad is a member and i really enjoy going there. unlike the big two ranges in Maricopa county anyone can use the pistol bays and do a lot more practical shooting practice.

If it were me going to that area for the first time i would hit in no particular order.
Johnny Ringo's Grave near Turkey Creek south of Wilcox (Very interesting spot)
Chihuahua National Monument (Absolutely Stunning scenery and hiking trails)
Tombstone (The Courthouse is a state park that is full of artifacts rest is kind of interesting yet touristy)
Cochise Stronghold(Beautiful out of the way spot to go back in time a bit)
Bisbee (Old time mining town turned artist colony).

I am a western history buff so this stuff is what interests me.

Damn I forgot all about that place. Definitely a good steak.

Didn't there used to be a similar steakhouse on Star Pass, or in that area?

Don't forget Biosphere 2.... Its interesting and not crowded.

I got to film there for a PBS kids show I shot years back. Very cool facility. I wish I had more time to take it all in when I was there.

Are you talking about the old Daisy Mae's? I think there used to be a steak place between what is now Star Pass and Marana that was rumored to be the best steak in Tucson (back in the 80's and 90's), or was it L'il Abner's? Been awhile, I don't remember that well...

It could be? I only went there once and it would have been the late '80s or early '90s. I remember it being a damn good steak.

I forgot to mention you should visit the Museum of the Horse Soldier, located in Trail Dust Town. They have a bunch of 1800s uniforms and weapons etc and it is worth seeing. The guy in there let me wear the 150 year old buffalo coat,
