I was 2 yrs old when JFK was assassinated. My parents were Republicans and I can remember my parents telling me that it was a dark day for the country when i was older. 1968 Bobby Kennedy was shot and I rember my mom crying after reading the paper in the morning when i was going to school. At that time the country seemed to be more connected. Now it seems like we are so devided that the American people are wishing for the other party to die. WTF HAPPENED? State run media that seems to devide the country? The politicians that feed the media their political agenda? The Fairness Act that the Regan Addmistration dissolved?

Its like nowadays how people are cutting their balls off and replacing it with an artificial vagina.

That doesn't answer the question of WTF HAPPENED? Our elected officials used to agreed on Supreme Court nominees. Now it's all partisan. WTF changed?. Charles Whitman was the first mass shooter, but there was no partisan gun control introduced in Congress. WTF changed?

The collectivists have simply grown further away from us. It really is that simple. Collectivism (in all its variants) at its root teaches envy and advocates that thievery is just and moral. The collectivists here in this land used to only want to mooch off the rest of us a little bit. But as the cancer they are, they can never be satisfied, and have to take more and more. This war has always been coming. I'm surprised it has taken this long.

Those of us who are not them have been blessed to be distracted enough by prosperity to put up with them. But as that prosperity dissipates, we are losing our patience with them. As it dissipates further and there is less to let them take and they continue to demand more,...it is inescapable that we will be at each other's throats. This is a cycle that was put in motion before any of us were born.

It started in the mid 60s when the news media went from reporting news to opinion pieces.
They figured out how powerful they were in shaping people’s opinions and thinking.
Hell, I remember how Cronkite and Arnette almost singlehanded changed the way people and even politicians thought the war in Viet Nam was going.

The main reason is the Democrap party is dead and has been taken over by Communists. You can't negotiate or get along with people that are insane, and want to change the U.S. to a Communist country, period.

I think war correspondents used to jump in a jeep and go where the action was. They saw stuff Cronkite reported it, opinions changed. Now the media is embedded and I personally think they don't get to see a thing that is not approved.

Like you Old Dog, I was born into the same world. Listened to the farewell warning of an outgoing president. Watched the next one get shot. Watched the next one lie us into a pointless war, the next get impeached..........

But that's just my lifetime. Our problems are as old as recorded human history. What is it they say about empires, wooden clogs going up and silk slippers coming down.

Basically America is soft. Our collective wealth, lifestyle and status in the world has no place to go but down. The reasons are many, but I place the greatest blame on us as a people. What made us climb that latter was freedom, and we, collectively, simply don't want that anymore. And Republican's are every bit as guilty as Democrats. Truth is now objective. Evil is based on a curve.

The wooden clogs coming up are China's. They will get more freedom and wealth and we will fade away in petty arguments and lies

Wish I could be more optimistic but more than half the country just watched a fraudulent election and nobody going to do anything about it, nor can you. The next election cycle will be the same, until we just do away with those messy elections.

My dad is so Republican that he is still mad Goldwater lost in 1964.
But when JFK died I was 5 and both my parents were very upset.
I asked my dad why he wasn't happy because he did not vote for him.
He said I was too young to understand.

So maybe the people that want all other party dead have just not grown up ?

I remember the day Kennedy was shot.
The whole nation morned.
It didn't matter who was president in yesteryear , everyone would morn.

Now days if the President died , half the nation would morn and the other half would rejoice.
Our nation is split now as bad , if not worse than it was during the Civil War.

It's been pretty well summed up already. Lots of good points made.

I'm 51 years old, and I remember seeing a (big) change coming when I was in my early 20's.

Spankings were becoming frowned upon, and time-outs were the new thing. Kids were starting to talk to their parents in ways that would have gotten me laid out. Zero tolerance policies started displacing reason and common sense, people were becoming much less respectful.

More and more young men were being raised by single mothers. They started believing that in order to be liked by a woman, they had to think like one. They played video games instead of tinkering with cars, and started buying Hondas instead of muscle cars and pickup trucks. And of course they have no clue how to fix or build anything.

We've all seen the same thing. I could see where we were heading, I just never thought it would happen this fast.

Removal of the fairness requirements on news and lifting the ban on propaganda for citizens pretty much put us where we are today. Not to mention the leftist media only spitting out leftist propaganda.

Just feeding the war machine and military industrial complex, if feeds on 19 year olds. Born right after ww2. Couple years off I dont recall but the Korea thing was the kickoff I recall uncle went. Nam was the one all to clear and the duration. I think your calculator would melt if the cost were truly known. Had a friend worked some sort of food service in the latest actions, he made a LOT of money running all those other food service contractors. $$$ all bleed red whether dispatched by red or blue white house.
