Goals are to get an LVPO that lets me engage targets quickly and effectively to 600 yds.

Platform will be AR15, prob 16” barrel

Lots of options out there and even more folks paid to encourage me to spend money w their sponsors.

What have YOU spend money on that you would recommend?

Have a budget in mind?

Some good options from companies like Vortex, Leupold, and Nightforce; but some of those options range from like $1500 to nearly $3,000.

$3k on an LVPO?! That’s S&B $

I figured the most a guy could spend was $1500

Where it's made, who sells it it, and reticles available.

Most popular that I've seen in no particular order are:

Steiner P4X1 1-4
Nightforce NX8 1-8
Leupold Mk6 1-6
Vortex Razor HD Gen 3 1-10
Trijicon TR24 1-4

I have a budget friendly Vortex PST 2 1-6 but after getting the Razor Gen 3 1-10, I'm now spoiled for anything else.

While the eyebox I heard isn't the best, the compromise between weight, durability, and effectiveness seems to be the NX8.

The Razor Gen 3 has been on my radar for a while. I still favor that reticle.

A buddy of mine had a $400 SwampFox on the range recently and he was making hits with ease. His was a 1-8 but has me thinking about an LVPO again.

Last few scopes I have bought were from Athlon and Riton Optics. I have been extremely impressed by both. Great value for your money. I've owned dozens of scopes over the years, from a basic Bushnell fixed 10X Mildot to Schmidt & Bender, Nightforce, Leupold, etc.

The Athlon Midas Tac I've been using on my 6.5 Creedmoor Bergara has been excellent. I'd put it up against a a basic Leupold Mark 4. The Riton X5 Conquer is on my Bergara B14R 22LR. Also an excellent scope...as good or better than any Vortex I've owned (had a Razor HD mounted on my Larue OBR for a few years).

A budget would help. You can spend $200-2,000 on an LVPO.

Well when you include the cost of a good mount, it’s easy to get up there. An ATACR 1-8 with a Scalarworks mount will put you in like $2800.

I’ve heard great things about the Razor 1-6. That’s actually probably my first choice if I were to ever get an LPVO for my personal gun. I’ve looked through the glass and it’s pretty good, with good illumination.

EOTech Vudu is a popular option, though I haven’t used it.

As far as Nightforce goes, I’ve been told that the NX8 is better for more close range engagements/shooting while the ATACR is better for longer distances.

I have the Bushnell rt6. Nice optic. My only gripe is the windage/elevation adjustments are not extremely tactile. Very small clicks but you get what you pay for.

The only LPVO that I have is a 1-8x Swampfox. It's been awesome, and only about $400 or so.

For +/- $1500 (new/retail), I'd look at the Trijicon Credo 1-8x. It's the updated/improved version of the AccuPower. Or, if you are OK with pre-owned, I'd probably look for a used Nightforce NX8 1-8x.

Both illuminated FFP reticles, and available in MOA or MRAD.

YMMV...
