Gen 2 Ruger Ranch Rifles

Either I got a factory freak or Ruger is putting most of the money where it matters. Got this group last weekend with my 16" 6.5 Grendel Ranch rifle.

105gr Sierra Blitz King varmit projectile over 28.5 grains AR Comp.

American Eagle TNT Factory loads also shot amazing.

Both of the above are relatively cheap loads. You can buy the 105gr SBK projectiles in 500 round boxes.

Vortex Viper 6.5-20 X 44, set for 16X. Zero'd it at 50yds two weekends ago. Last weekend I setup at 100yds and used Strelok to get me close, app said down 6 which was which was dead center for the 105gr load. Spent the rest of the day chrono graphing all the loads I have on hand. Will push out further over the holidays to see where this one runs out of steam. My 20" Howa was a laser to 700-800. Anything past 900 and it was very unpredictable.

The crappy group to the left is some 123 American Gunner I picked up in at Sportsmans back in 2017. 200 rounds for $79. It shot ok from my 20", the Ranch wasn't enamored with it. ELDM Black on the lower Right. My last group of the day, think I was getting tired as that stuff was a single hole at 50yds.

I’ve shot a Ruger precision and an American Predator and both were great shooting sticks

The Gen1 American Ranch 5.56 I had was stupid accurate with my hand loads; A clone of the Blackhills Mk262 - 77gr SMK over 25.2gr of A2520. Sub MOA out to 400 yards, 10 shot groups (furthest I had it on paper). For a sub $500 rifle, it shot well above it's price point.

I wish they didn't do the unicorn horn barrel on the Gen2s...big added cost for little benefit.

I have 4 different gen 1s..they all shoot lights out..just can't stand that cheap crappy magazine they all come with..looks like they addressed that problem with the gen 2s

I checked out a new Ruger Ranch in a shop recently. I was really impressed (although I agree with QM4 that I'd skip the unicorn horn barrel if I could).

Ever since the Ruger Precision Rifle came out, I've been really impressed with the value and accuracy of their rifles. I'm kind of tempted to get something to play with like a .300 blk. SBR it and find a folding stock and you have a Q Mini Fix for 25%-30% of the cost.

That is what I wanted to do with my 5.56, but there wasn't really a good aftermarket stock option that I liked...at a price that I was willing to pay. Most of the nice aftermarket chassis systems cost more than the rifle cost!
