I think "common" knowledge .. often wrong .. has snuck into the discussion regarding the 4473 and Actual buyer. I ran into this with an A hole at sportsmans warehouse and havent been back since.

My understanding is if Kelly was not accepting money from someone to purchase the gun on their behalf and accepted no money when he gave the gun away ... its perfectly legal.

I dont think gun shop workers ever read that through and use Folk lore to say .. if you arent buying a gun for you you cant buy it. Its patently untrue. You can very much buy it as a gift.
Now if they didnt want to sell Kelly the gun because he was an asshat and talked negatively about the ease of getting legal goods at a legal store and the store took exception and said F off. More power to em!!
