Military Surplus Stores See Boost In Business Amid Wildfires, Pandemic

SACRAMENTO (CBS13) – Survival gear is flying off the shelves of military surplus stores amidst California wildfires and a global pandemic.

Military Action Surplus in Sacramento typically has $1,000 a week in sales but since March, that number has skyrocketed.

“Once COVID and everything kind of kicked in, that’s when everyone started coming in to pick up survival gear stuff,” Shaun Patrick said.

Patrick says gas masks were the first things to sell out.

“Police using tear gas, people wanted gas masks and then it went from gas masks to MRE’s. People were afraid when SMUD or PG&E cuts the power, people wanted food,” Patrick said.

Patrick says he hasn’t seen anything quite like this. The wildfires, protests, and the global pandemic are causing his customers to panic, something the store has seen before.

True dat.
I was at Allied Surplus last week buying a new plate carrier. Owner said they sold out of gas masks in March, and can't afford to replace inventory because of the higher distributor prices.

So he was okay with providing masks to terrorists and their sympathizers?

Capitalism is a helluva thing. Just as we would respect his right to choose not to sell those items if he suspected they were to be used by Antifa or whatnot, we have to respect his right to sell out that stock if he so chooses. Said he usually only ran $1000 bucks a week in sales. A big payday could be life changing for that guy.

TL/DR; he can sell to whoever he wants.

I would say something about assumptions but you are already a made man.

The folks at allied arent outfitting antifa anymore than they have been outfitting right wingnut wannabes for the last few lustrum.

Assigning blame to a shop keeper for the actions of those who buy his products is a slippery slope. Sounds like what anti gun retards like to do to gun dealers.

Not right for you or them.

Apologies if I came across as trying to tell you what to do. That wasn't my intent. But is it really a "strange hill to lay on" for me to say that a private citizen business owner can sell to whomever he wants?

That question aside, part of the capitalism at work argument that I made is that as a counter point of him selling to whomever he wants, you can choose to not buy from him. That is pretty much capitalism at work.

None of the above should be taken as me telling you or suggesting to you what you should or should not do. It is just me sharing my opinion the same as you do.
