Anybody have a PCP in the East valley that they have a good, long term relationship with? Not terribly impressed with who I am seeing now (a few times over the past year). They seem to look for reasons to bring you back in for appts.

Love my doctor.

Do you have to be a member of their healthcare plan to use him?

His office is inside a Banner clinic, but he is an independent doctor. He takes a variety of plans.

This may be crazy talk to some but .. for the last 5 years or so I have taken to visiting the residents. I had a primary Dr. that was recommended to me when I came out here and stuck with him for years.

I had a blood pressure problem that was getting worse all of my own doing and he prescribed a medication that was about $300+ a month. Had good insurance and good pay so didnt think about it.

Lost the insurance and told him I couldnt afford the meds and he suggested I order from Canada. Which I did for a good while. Finally after a bunch of other shady things that didnt sit right and a move to East Mesa I started going to a DR group in Mountainview. They have about 4 doctors but you can CHOOSE to visit the residency clinic instead.

My first visit they took my blood pressure which was about to blow my head off and I told them what I had been taking and could no longer afford and minutes later I was hooked up with 2 medications for under $20 which had me regulated in less than a week.

Which means the Dr I had been seeing all along could have done that too.

I find the residents being new and still eager really ask questions and haven't been corrupted by the system yet. They have a supervising doctor that goes over their findings but .. it feels like medicine used to feel. They seem to actually give a sh*t. They spend the time to go over your records and its not just a wham bam thank you mame.

Once my BP was under control they said .. see you in 6 months and then see you in a year. None of that I need to pad my numbers so I will have you in once a week. I made a bunch of life changes and got my BP under control naturally and it was done.

Love going there.

My wife didnt have a regular DR. Turned her on to this place. Saw the residents .. was immediately in treatment for cancer and while that isnt the big deal .. the resident took it upon himself to show up at one of her treatments couple weeks later at Ironwood Hospital just to talk to her and the Doctors giving her care. WHO THE HELL DOES THAT!

A newbie.

In case anyone is interested

Thanks for the recommendations everyone.

Boriqua - that sounds like a nice change from normal doctors, gonna look into that for sure!

My Dr. retired a few years ago and I am still trying to find a decent one. I remember going to residents long ago in another state and I remember as Boriqua described, they seemed to care or take interest in what they were doing. Might have to give the residents a go.
