Unless they had good reason to get him out of the vehicle, this was just stupid. We don't have footage of came before this, but it sounds like they were only getting him out of the vehicle because he forthrightly let them know he was armed. That's a Commiefornia policy that most other departments outside of enemy territory have unwisely adopted. If he was just due to get a traffic citation and not being investigated for anything furtherly suspicious, that is.

I'll never forget the wide range of difference in officer attitude and conduct I have experienced getting pulled over. I've had the newly hired transferee from Commiefornia, who when I dutifully informed him of my pistol on my side, he damned near drew down on me and was literally hopping on his toes thinking I was calling him out at high noon. And I've had the other extreme where upon informing the deputy I was armed, all he had to say was "don't pull yours and I won't pull mine".

I'm all for officers being pro-active in ensuring their safety on scene. But with 3 officers present, I just can't help but wonder how necessary disarming him actually was. I'm perfectly willing to consider the pretext to what transpired before all this. In fact, it is crucial. But,...dang,...well,...this just sucks for everyone.

The "excuse" they gave was that the steering column was broken, making them believe that the SUV was possibly stolen.
