You've probably seen the meme about shooting yourself with small caliber weapons to slowly build up immunity to large caliber gunshots.
Well, this guy with the brass balls the size of watermellons decided to do that with venomous snakes. Over 18 years, he has allowed himself be envenomated over 850 times!! Starting with small doses, he works his way up to regular sized bites from snakes that few have ever survived, including taipans, cobras and mambas.
As a result, he actually has in fact grown his body's resistance and resilience to these venoms. Rather than winning a Darwin Award,...he just might go down in history as a hero of medical science for developing (the hard way) the immunological basis upon which future broad spectrum anti-venom drugs are about to be created.
