Well to each his own, but I’d think that would affect the value of that great old war horse. Check with the aficionados at 1911addicts.com

As far as a military collectible it is destroyed. If functional it would likely sell for a carry 1911 if someone doesnt mind carrying a pimps 1911.

surprizingly, pending on who and how old the plating is, some individuals are and will be all over it, the new shiney, whether old or forgotten is a boon to some. go over on 1911. and do a little perusing, you'll get some cat calls, but don't be surprised of the interested souls

Whoever did the job it looks good, but it boils down to the originality thing. I assume you bought it for the collectibility aspect? But it’s your’s, take it out and make some noise.

Back then, for an EDC, nickel or chrome was the best corrosion-resistent option a gun could have. Yes, as military collectible, the value is gone. But depending on what provenance could be established about this particular pistol could raise its value anyway. Was some sort of officer's retirement gift presentation? Was it carried by a Prohibation era G-man? Such stories change values regardless of condition.

Well you’ve come to the right site for selling, we’d all love to see pics of them.

Will do , I'm a long time member here. I'll be posting for sale ads soon. Pricing is tough for quick sales.

I agree,... if done back during the correct period, just adds more uniqueness to the piece, imo,... but, I am not a collector and have no idea on values of collectibles.

All the best!

Regardless a good condition 1911, even if collector value gone, should bring 3-500 unless my values arenoff

I'm looking and asking on the wrong sites then. I'm getting the idea it's triple or more than that?

If it was in unmolested value absolutely. I unfortunately unless it has some provenance behind it like mentioned in an earlier post it is now a shooter or carry pistol. You might get around 1000 if someone really wants it but I think it would be a reach.

If was original easily 2000 and up

Hmmm,... if you already think you know its value, to the degree of claiming to be on the wrong site, because you don't like the opinions you asked for,... maybe you are!

I believe there are a lot better sites than this one, for your quest,... good luck finding what you want!
