anyone on here drive class a locally? Trying to see what's out there after a 13yr break from the industry.

i'd say in present job market a cdl driver could easily find employement, just about every vendor, over road or local is short drivers,
good luck

I go down Highway 10 to Casa Grande every week and absolutely every semi I pass has a sign advertising for drivers and has a phone number to call.

Got to be one of the most in demand jobs around right now.

I seem to recall you just started a thread in the last week or so pointing out how distributors etc don't have people they need to deliver stock to customers...

CDL drivers have always been in need. Even more so now due to well you know....

I don't, but I know quite a few and they all say they are underpaid. Most local stuff is paying around $20/hour. I know 1 guy driving a dump and he is making over $30.
I have talked to the drivers for the steel distributors in town and they are all short handed and they are paying drivers better than that $20/ hour average.

finding work generally has never been an issue, but like ac guy pointed out most are underpaid.there are many that advertise 65-80k a yr but fail to point out that you'll work 6 days a week 14hrs a day to make it. that's less than 20 and hour. hopeful to find a company that pays well with respect to their drivers.

Aren't robots eventually take them to terminals and then humans back it at 4th and Adams right to loading dock?
