OK... Ladies and gentlemen, boys and girls, (accompanied) children of all ages... (OK - fine - this might not be the best opportunity for the first shoot with your 5 year old - but you get the picture... :-) )

We had a great time doing a shoot and cleanup in March - and Delta6 nudged me earlier this week and asked when we were going to do it again - so here goes! Let's get at least one more in before it gets hot.

The last one was a great time, we met some new folks, and we did some good. In case you are wondering - we did (and will) run a semi-structured range - we will have a quick safety brief, agree to protocol for where and when we are handling guns, how to make the range cold, etc. I mention this because I want folks to know that we'll do it - and that the last shoot was very comfortable.

We'd like to get more folks out to shoot - and we're planning to make this mostly a shoot - but to haul some stuff out after. If you can come and shoot but can't stay to clean up - that's totally OK.

I'll keep scouting for spots - but if you know of a spot that has bigger / bulkier stuff to haul away (appliances, etc...) please either post them in the thread - or PM me if you prefer. Since the landfill waived charging us to dump the last time, I'm still up to cover the dump fee for this one (if they charge us) and I'll bring trailer, bags, and water.

Looking forward to seeing some folks again - and hopefully meeting some new folks.

Sooner the better, will be E-Z up time. May want an earlier start too. I am good with same spot but open to another place within range.

22-April is (Flat Dark) Earth Day

if we hold it on that day we all have to bring our FDE guns!

What happened to the Sunday dates?

My mistake.

I removed them because I found that all the landfills are closed - and I can't dump on weekdays due to work.

EDIT - Changing to the 29th... OK - Let's target the 22nd. We need suggestions for spots that would be good for a shoot and can use a cleanup.

What are the plans? location? hours on-site?

I plan to shoot the monthly service rifle shoot at Ben Avery on the 22nd in the morning.... then maybe drive out to the desert to join you all?

22-Apr is Earth Day, lets make it Flat Dark Earth Day.

EDIT - LOCATION AND TIME CHANGE
All - I apologize, life got busy. It looks like there are 6 folks available on the 29th and so far only Bill has chimed in specific to the 22nd and he would need to come late.

So... lets adjust and target the 29th.

Unless someone provides a better (more messy) location, we'll go to the spot on the south side of Carefree Highway just west of Lake Pleasant.

 • Rally time: 07:00 AM
 • Rally Point: N/W Corner of Grand Avenue and Deer Valley Rd (there is a lot of shoulder area - room to park and gather up and its just a couple of miles from the spot where we leave carefree highway. Here: https://goo.gl/maps/rZ8bHbzYioaqbUJc8
 • Get to the Shooting Spot: 7:30 AM
 • Shoot First - then spend a 1/2 hour or so cleaning up and loading the trailer.

 • Rally time: 07:30 AM
 • Rally Point: Castle Hot Springs Rd just north of Carefree Highway (there is a lot of shoulder area - room to park and gather up and its just a couple of miles from the spot where we leave carefree highway. Here: https://goo.gl/maps/iwEVXPeXasi5jwJx7
 • Get to the Shooting Spot: 8:00 AM
 • Shoot First - then spend a 1/2 hour or so cleaning up and loading the trailer.

I plan on coming and hope nothing changes.

Thanks - and I've got a DM for a couple more folks coming - so I think we have critical mass. Looking forward to it.

Others - please let me know that you are coming so we know to collect you at the rally point. DM is fine if you prefer.

ALL - delta6 went out to the location for this shoot and found that in the six weeks or so since I've been there there has been a bunch of grass growth and death - and the area is probably not the best place to shoot right now due to fire danger. Given that - We're going to go back to the location by the Deer Valley Dump. Per Delta - this location is much better for shooting right now. We'll meet at 7:00 AM on the N/W corner of Deer Valley and Grand. I'll have the trailer and we can clean up new stuff there as well.

I'll PM each of the folks that have confirmed.

I went out to where I think you all shot last time and are planning to go again and I was run off by a couple of guys in a yellow truck saying they were the ranch managers and I couldn't shoot there due to the cattle they had on the land. I looked on the map and it appears it's all state trust land and private property with some city boundaries mixed in. I could have the area wrong but I was met on the west side of the dump just as I rounded south by the power grid thingy.

"You have some proof that you have any authority to tell me that? I'm sure you can understand why some random dude telling me something isn't exactly scripture for me."

I could do the same thing if I'm out shooting in my favorite spot and someone else shows up. "Hey, you can't be here, I'm blah blah blah and you're gonna have to turn around and leave!"

I was curious about this location too as I know that side of the carefree had private and state trust land with very little blm. What was BLM in the area got shut down and their ranges put up instead.

Totally plausible it was on private. Only looking at a map would tell us for sure if the location was actually blm or on private land

Azgunlover69,
You are correct. It is private property that the ranch lets us shoot on. They have just let the cattle out (wet spring, so they are late) and if you decide to shoot there that is between you, the landowner and the sheriff.

I was out numbered and wasn't looking for trouble. Literally just trying an ar out I was fixing. Looking at the map there is only a small rip of blm and its right by the Ford grounds so probably not able to shoot due to proximity.
