So let me see if I have the past present and future timeline right: insurance companies noted that California was a tinderbox and said it would cost $$$$ to insure all these places in California against fire, and rather than fix the root causes of WHY the fire danger was high, Gavin Newsom told them it would be illegal to charge what the risk matrix said it would cost to recoup the (present) loss conditions... so given the choice of not doing business there or losing their shirt, they canceled the policies...
Now, having STILL NOT resolved the conditions which made it massively unsafe, the fires started, as they do, and all these people are losing everything. Anyone telling them "I told you so" is smeared as an unfeeling monster, and no solution or correction is anticipated.
Prediction...
Soon: the broke state of California will be pushing for TAXPAYER FUNDED reparations to these people which will be less than their insurance would have recovered, but more than the cost of actually making sure the pipes had water, the firebreaks were maintained, and they will continue to blame corporations for the failures of government.
Bet me.
