COMMERCE CITY, Colo. (Gray News) – Police in Colorado said they’ve experienced something truly incredible after they responded to a call for a shooting.

The Commerce City Police Department said in a Facebook post that the victim of the shooting miraculously survived thanks to a piece of jewelry.

“We’d say he really dodged a bullet– but in reality, he LODGED a bullet,” the department said.

Police said the victim was in the middle of an argument when the suspect pulled out a gun and fired a .22 caliber bullet at him.

The department said the bullet would have pierced the man’s neck were it not for his necklace, a 10 millimeter silver chain, which caught the bullet and stopped it from entering him.

As a result of the chain catching the bullet, the man suffered only a puncture wound.

Officers arrested the suspect at the scene. He now faces attempted homicide charges.

The department said they are not sure what kind of metal the chain is made out of but that it is not pure silver.

Pure silver is soft and likely would not have stopped a bullet.

“So maybe think twice before you knock a knockoff,” the department said in the post.

Virtually all jewelry is sterling silver (.925). A cursory Google search would reveal that. Yet a journalist couldn't be bothered.
