Bobtail .. Love it or hate it?

I know .. those junky old 1911's. Who cares?

Well I do .. damn fine guns and I love shooting them. Was looking around in the barren landscape to see what might be out there and actually available for purchase new and ran across some bobtail models.

I havent formed a real opinion yet and I never handled one so

If you have ... awesome! or .. nah if I had to do over I wouldnt have gotten a bobtail?

Either, love the bobtail look and feel, but when purchasing a pistol it would not be a make or break deal

I like them. I'm looking to either do it myself, or have someone bobtail my Colt Willey Clapp LW Commander.

Wonderful invention. I fell in love with them the first time I held an Ed Brown Kobra Carry at SHOT Show years ago. I purchased one immediately. Now I have one old Kimber Pro SLE done, and purchased one Brown SF and two Guncrafters, all bobtailed.

That rear corner knocked off really helps with concealment. Kinda like a compact but with a full grip.

Did you buy them bobbed or did you have someone do them for you?

Purchased all bobbed except the Kimber. Chuck Rogers did that and his golfballing for me. That's the one as my avatar.

His work is flat out amazing. I can't think of anyone better to do some custom work on a 1911 or Hi-Power.

I only have one 1911 bobtail (commander). It's an all steel one, so not as lite as some others; hence I rarely carry it anymore. The bobtail helps when carried (appendix). Other than that, I'm neutral on them. Neither helps or hinders how I shoot it. YMMV JMHO

If you carry IWB at the 4 o’clock, the bobtail really helps knock off the printing
