Gee, I wonder what becomes of all the old 4473's that are in the possession of the BATF? When I closed a small gun shop I had back in the eighties I was instructed to send all the 4473's and bound books to the BATF branch in Dallas.
I was told it was just a dumping file they were going to but, if I had to guess, I'm pretty damn sure they keep all the files beyond the 20 year period. I never had my FFL for 20 years but I certainly would have destroyed the 4473's after the 20 year cut off.
