AR rear sights

Is the "peep hole" sight the only sight that can be used as a "rear" sight
on an AR?

I want to use open sights on my AR but the peep hole is really becoming hard for
me to access.

Anything else out there on the market?

The peep rear sight is by far easier on the eyes than a notch rear sight. The whole idea is that you don't have to focus on a rear peep. The only way a notch rear would be close to as good is if you are very near sighted. Being strongly near sighted make the front sight a problem either way.

Get a dot and learn to love it.

I have seen XS sights for an AR before. Probably not very precise but definitely non a peep sight.
