Arizona has more non-trump voters than the Trump lovers realize.

Exactly. The best thing Lake or Masters could have done would have been to distance themselves from Trump and his Cult. Run on actual AZ issues and not "The Orange Man likes me!".

A percentage of voters who voted for Trump in 2020 is certainly going to vote Republican for Governor, no matter who the candidate is. However, there is a larger percentage of Republican voters who voted for Trump becuase there is no way in hell they were going to vote for Biden, no matter who the Republican candidate was. So by sucking Trumps stubby sausage during the campaign, Lake and Masters actually ended up turning off many Republican voters who were on the fence about the potential candidate(s)...most likely some of them voted for Lake/Masters regardless, but I'd be there are more than 32,000 voters who were turned off by their allegiance to Trump.
