Maine shooting suspect Robert Card was struggling with his mental health and claimed to family he overheard people talking about him at the bowling alley and bar where he is accused of opening fire Wednesday, according to his sister-in-law.

“He truly believed he was hearing people say things. This all just happened within the last few months,” Katie O’Neill, who is married to Card’s brother, told the Daily Beast Thursday.

“I have known Rob my whole life. He is quiet but the most loving, hardworking, and kind person that I know. But in the past year, he had an acute episode of mental health,” she added.

he was committed for 2 weeks this summer for those mental health issues.... and made threats to shoot up the armory... Hummmm looks like the FBI let another one go just like the other school shooters they were aware of. So Red flag laws didn't work and neither did the FBI knowing the threats were made.... Hummmm looks like the laws already on the books don't work

An account on the social media platform X with Card’s name and a photo that appears to be him, which has been taken offline, had a history of liking right-wing and Republican political content. 

When WNBA player Brittney Griner was released from Russian detention after a prisoner exchange for a convicted arms dealer, the account posted what appeared to be its only tweet. Responding to a CNBC story about the topic, the account wrote: “Mass murderer for a wnba player great job keep up the good work,” in an apparent jab at President Joe Biden.

The account liked a tweet earlier this year from right-wing author and filmmaker Dinesh D’Souza arguing against an assault weapons ban, as well as other tweets from political figures like Donald Trump Jr. and Tucker Carlson.

Turns out he didn’t start hearing the voices UNTIL he was provided the hearing aids from the VA for his service-related hearing damage. Hmmmmmmmm,…let’s see,…yet again another shooter being treated in a government funded program, exhibiting mental instability who acts out with impeccable timing right when the enemies of freedom need it. You don’t suppose it is technically possible that some truly evil Hollywood type villain could, in an alternate universe, SEND messages remotely into someone’s hearing aids, eh? I mean,…suppose you were tired of all your drone mental patients you send out to cause mayhem never really doing so effectively because they are not competent combat shooters, so you need to come up with a way to find an actually deadly trained person and make them go crazy. How might you do that?
