Colt 5" Series 80 Blue.
9x19, 38 Super, 9x23.
Goal is to achieve perfect function with merely a barrel exchange, well 9x19 to 9x23 will require
a recoil spring change as well.
Same extractor, ejector, barrel bushing, magazines.
It's a bit of a challenge. LOL!

I've been spending a lot of time/thought on the rear sight. There will be a change in elevation point of aim/point of impact.
I build 'robust' and 'carry friendly' 1911s and have a dislike of adjustable rear sights.

One established customer says he would prefer one of my Tier One fixed rear sights set up for the 9x23. And that he would 'fudge' with the other 2 calibers.

Modern 9x19 and 38 Super ammo by the major manufacturers is pretty damn close ballistically.
I'd expect about 3/4" difference at 25 yds, closer than I can shoot.

But 9x19 vs 9x23.......might see 1 1/2".

So I'm leaning to the older model Novak rear adjustable with some overall modifications.
Pretty easy to just turn the screw 3 clicks as you're changing barrels.

For those unfamiliar with the 9x23, Winchester is the only major manufacturer.
They offer 2 loadings.
A Silvertip hollowpoint. 125gr at 1375 fps if I remember correctly. I have zero experience with this loading.
And a 124gr jacketed soft point at near 1500fps from a stock Colt 5" barrel!

Not seeing an edit function.
Winchester says 1450 on the Silvertip.
Published results have been lower.

I love the 9x23! All the performance of the .38super but a WHOLE lot easier to find components and load for.

The only downside is if you own anything chambered in 9mmLargo, you have to be incredibly paranoid about getting +p+ 9x23 ammo mixed up and accidentally fired in it! KABOOM!!

Now that makes one of the best 4th of july pics i've even seen,

thanks for that and as usual incredible looking detail and thought out execution. awesome indeed.
