Understood... Since a lot of people can go to the GD area and start any topic, would it be too much to ask then that some of the posts in General Discussion be reviewed and moved to another existing category's where they are appropriate - (and would qualify under the rules) for example...

"mossberg mvp 308" (IMO) should be in "Rifles, carbines and other long arms" ...is only one example of many topics that could be relocated, and that might have the side effect of getting people to explore more of the other topic areas.

I suspect that in today's environment, many use their phone to browse.
That may be why long posts get skipped thru, answers are brief and the GD form gets used for most things. It can be a pain to change forums with all the key presses needed on a phone... of course they could just start browsing in the new/active topics links instead.

Not my responsibility - I don't have the time or inclination to be everyone's secretary if they don't take the time on their own to organize. The GD area is just as available as any other area and doesn't take any more clicks to get to another area versus GD - just scrolling a few more lines. Users are responsible for putting topics in the appropriate locations on their own. Blatantly off-topic posts will either be moved or deleted at moderators' discretion.

Frankly, too much work. I was planning on just using a random number generator to order #1-1000 in a random order (all user accounts on this site are associated with an ID in the order in which they registered), and then starting at the top and going down the list in order until someone meets the criteria, and then continue for the second one.
