Rifled barrel in SG

I understand they're for slugs. However, is buck-shot of choice still workable in them?
Or, will the rifling just add to deformation and poor patterning?

It will open up the pattern considerably.
We did a test several years ago with that exact situation in mind, using a TQ15 target, and with a rifled barrel at 15 yards 1/3rd of the 9 pellets weren’t even on paper, and the ones we could measure were in a pattern all over the place.

Anything besides a sabot slug in a rifled barrel is pretty much useless. With the shot column spinning its going to have centrifugal force pushing it outwards so as soon as it leaves the barrel its going to spread out fast
