It wouldn't be the first time in its history that Colt wouldn't sell guns to civilians. That's why Colt has gone through or been near bankruptcy many times in the company's history.
Who cares though as other then the name (which fanbois cream over) they aren't really top tier rifles.

Apparently true: https://www.thetruthaboutguns.com/colt- ... il-market/
Colt has decided to stop selling guns to people who weren't buying them. Surprise -- the market figured out that you could get more rifle for less money. Imagine that.

I hope they do quit selling to civilians. Then maybe I can sell the Colts I purchased in 2008 for what I paid for them.

Wondering what my pairs of 6940's with a Colt 901 with the parts to put the 5.56 upper on the 7.62 lower will be worth them? I like the Fn AR-15's better now anyway.DrEarlCordova wrote: ↑September 11th, 2019, 9:11 pm I hope they do quit selling to civilians. Well, I guess I'll have to buy my AR from one of the other 8,398 companies making them for half the price....

No they are simply a name that has a cachet to it. Which causes some people to cream their jeans at the mere mention of it. The weapons aren't anything special.

I had one Colt AR. It was the worst Jam-O-Matic I ever owned. It was later eclipsed by a 1911 Warthog.
I dumped them both.

For many years Colt was the ultimate AR and held their value better than any.
Now a days there are other quality one's out there, but IMHP Colt will continue to hold their value down the road.

Yes they will, as long as people care more for a name then the quality.
Just like I was able to sell my Colt Kodiak for almost 4 times what a Ruger or S&W would command at the time. It has gotten so stupid that a decade later that same Kodiak is now selling for EIGHT THOUSAND dollars. All due to the name and not the quality of the pistol. My Kodiak was nothing special and had to go back to Colt as it left the factory with a canted barrel.
Colts were the ultimate BACK IN THE DAY because they were the only ones being built to that sacred "mil-spec" standard. They have long been surpassed and couldn't even keep that military contract, loosing it to FN.

Hmmm, I'm puzzled, would someone please explain to me why a Colt rifle, that fell out of favor in the market enough to cause Colt to claim bankruptcy a few years back,... most likely due to a decline in sales, and most likely do to price, and, or, poor quality, as well,... is suddenly going to sky rocket in value, and make current owners rich, simply because this unpopular rifle,... isn't made anymore?
Very puzzled,... indeed.
