Discuss rifles, carbines, and other long-arms here (AR-15's, AK's, etc...)

Help Required - Magpul UBR - Lost one screw

#1

Post by largrizzly »

Hi,

I live in the UK and am looking to source one cheekpiece screw for my Magpul UBR stock. They are the smaller of the magpul screws that sit two each side of the buffer tube/cheekpiece.

I've sent emails to Magpul and called them directly approximately four times but keep being told the international department will contact me. Problem is they never do. It's been about 6 weeks now having first contacted them end of November and I must have spent $20 on phone calls to them but nothing. All I need is one screw!

Is anybody able to help me out please and source one Magpul UBR cheekpiece screw for me? I would be eternally grateful. I've pretty much given up on Magpul. Of course I will pay costs and a bit more for your trouble. I've attached a picture of the screw in question.

I've also added a link to my straight pull AR15 build and Youtube channel below:

Many thanks,

Grizzly

Shouldn't it be the same as the screw that it's in line with (toward the rear of the stock on the same side)? Or better yet, is there an identical screw in the same position on the opposite side? Try taking it out and see if it fits in the hole with the missing screw. If it does, it would be simple to order online through McMaster or other similar retailer. That screw isn't anything special if memory serves. This is the Gen1 UBR; did they give you a part number for the screw when you called?

Strange that a person in the UK found a relatively unknown gun forum in AZ to post this question in.

OP, you might want to post this on a more AR specific forum such as ar15.com.

That being said, WRMorrison posted a good suggestion.

Thanks for the reply WRM. Yes they are 4 identical screws, 2 each side.

Good tip. I assumed (possibly wrongly) that these were custom Magpul screws but it's possible they used a 3rd party. If I can get the product ID and purchase them elsewhere it's a no brainer. Will give it a go. Thanks.

Hi Steve,

Thanks I'll give AR15.com a try as well.

I guess it's a small world and I was aware of this forum from previous searches. Google "America Gun Forum" and you get lots of nothing.

Seems like a great forum anyway and who doesn't love Arizona! : )

Google, "American AR15 forum" and ar15.com is the first 4 results.

That being said, "ARF.com" as most people refer to it, is full of whiny AR fanbois who get easily offended.

$6/100 screws here (6-32 x .1875): https://www.mcmaster.com/97763a325. Not sure about the UK, but McMaster ships super fast here.
