Alrighty, it's time for the monthly "practical" match where you run what you brung and try new ideas and tactics! By request, we will have a charge line, multiple targets requiring movement and probably reloading. Might want to practice those eyes off mag changes and muzzle awareness.
As usual, we'll have the grill plugged in for those wish to grill something before the shooting starts. Bring lots of water, it will be warm! On the range at 1700, shooting stops at 2200.
Plate rack, rifle targets, a couple of handgun stages and good company! See you there.

Hi Mike,
I'm a complete newbie here, so forgive what is likely a dumb question. What does CCML stand for?
Thanks
- Eric

CCML sets up competitions.
HOWEVER, the third Saturday night of every month, they host an "unmatch." There are targets and stages set up, but nobody keeps score, and there is no "winner." In fact, if anybody complains that the stage or scoring is unfair, that person is declared the winner of the match, which is the ultimate disgrace.

The unmatch is a perfect place for newbies to get their feet wet, or to practice with a gun not suitable for competition (like a .38 snubby or pocket .380, for example), or to practice shooting from concealment, or to try out a new gun or sight or holster before taking it to a real match.
Wide range of skill levels, from beginners to serious competitors.
I love the unmatches, but it's a very long drive for me. Still, I manage to make the trek two or three times a year.
Try it; you'll probably like it.

Very well said, smithers599. Spoken like one who was there in the beginning of this "unmatch" format, lo these many years ago! Please join us as often as you can, and I understand the recent rise in fuel costs may preclude that, but it's always a pleasure to have you on the range.

I looked up the Ben Avery range and it’s only 21 minutes from my house, which is pretty cool. It’s $12 per person?

At the main range, yes. At our club shoot, it's $15 for the night.

Great night! Usual targets plus a charge line that, we hope, made people think about cover. Great group of people, lots of rounds down range.
