Shipping a box of ammo to a friend
So I have a widow friend in Missouri that can't find any defense ammo for her Shield.
I want to send her a 50rd box of 124gr Gold Dots. What's the most inexpensive way to do it and with which carrier?

Can't go USPS.
Must go FedEx or UPS Ground.
Must ship from hubs, not stores.
Must use black and white diamond.

You also have to print out a hazardous material ORMD label and tape it to the outside of the box. If you do a little digging on the UPS website they have a step by step process you need to do. It's really pretty simple just takes a little time.

Re: Shipping a box of ammo to a friend
In normal times I would agree with .. just buy a box and send it straight from the shop you buy it from. Between the hazmat, shipping and inconvenience it would be far easier to do it that way.
However .. now aint normal times and where you going to buy online??
I have to imagine the cheapest easiest way is to see if your favorite FFL will ship it USPS for a small fee. I have worked with an FFL where I brought the package packed and ready to go and they just sent it out with their regular stuff. Didnt charge me anything but the postage because I had bought a number of guns from them but even if they tack on $10 you will save it in grief, aggravation and a couple of bucks by shipping it usps instead of UPS or Fed ex.
If you have an ffl you use regularly .. I would try there.

This doesn’t solve your problem, and these are far from normal times but when things settle down I buy ammo from an online seller and have it shipped to the person who needs it.

Why not USPS? Just curious. Have never tried, is it illegal?

UPS is the best choice for shipping ammo, least amount of hassle. FedEx still does ammo, but a driver has to pick it up, cannot be dropped off at any FedEx location. USPS will not take ammo period, large fine if you get caught trying. Wouldn't do FedEx with all the recent firearm related boxes that have just "disappeared". ATF had to investigate one hub in Minneapolis as mulitple firearms disappeared and then magically reappeared when they got called in.
Re: Shipping a box of ammo to a friend
Ammo does not ship on a Hazmat cert. Ammo is ORM-D. Primers and powder are hazmat, but once assembled it ships as "Other Regulated Materials". Oddly, primed brass is none of the above and can just ship.AZ1182 wrote: ↑September 8th, 2020, 5:48 pmThey fall into hazmat, so that would be a solid no.Homestead defence wrote: ↑September 8th, 2020, 8:13 am Why not USPS?
