Is the bore snake that much faster? Do you put oil on it? Sorry if those are dumb questions

it depends on the cleaning i want done. i "spring clean" my guns once a year. this is a more thorough cleaning job where i will break down the gun all the way down to the firing pin. when i go through this cleaning i use rod and brush/patches. the rest of the year is a blow out with air and run a snake threw it a couple times with some hoppes on the first run. i use a dry lube system in order to cut down on the amount of grime that can accumulate. this makes cleaning much easier. it also will depend on the gun i am cleaning too, how much care do i put into my cheap ass maverick 88?? not a whole lot! but when i comes to cleaning my Marlin .444 lever i spend a lot of time and care.

Breakdown: quick clean- snake
Thorough clean- rod and brush/patch

Dry lube i use-

I use a bore snake when I haven't put a lot of rounds thru the barrel after a shoot. Otherwise its a rod and patches.

Almost 50/50 on this one
Always my short rod (giggityj on the pistols, rod on the rifles, but always do a hefty soaking Patch of Hoppes first

I almost exclusively use a snake. Cant remember the last time I used a traditional cleaning rod setup. I am also not anal about cleaning the bore even on my duty pistols and rifle.

Boresnake for everything and then I spend more time with a toothbrush to get the internals clean than I do on the barrel.
