Paraphrasing Tina Turner: What's need got to do, got to do with it?

If budget and room to store them is not an issue, then why not. If one is good than 2 must be better.

Them P90's are pretty ugly though. But yeah I get it. All Day.Kingjoey wrote: ↑April 11th, 2020, 8:13 pm You should have as many guns as your budget permits, the issue of duplicates is irrelevant. I bought three of the same rifle on Black Friday. Why? Because I wanted to. Got two Ruger P90's, got three Russian Makarovs, got five matching MPA shotguns, got several other guns where I have several of the exact same thing and if the opportunity presents itself I'd gladly buy another "duplicate"

Having done Cowboy Action Shooting for a couple decades, I have duplicates of just about everything.
I have carried that tradition on, even with the 2-gun and other competitions, as well as the SHTF guns.
Mechanical devices do, on occasion, fail without warning.
Being able to just grab the backup and go is the most efficient technique, deal with the problem later.

I like to have a spare Glock for carry in case it breaks, to use the same holster. I have multiples of guns I like just because I like them though. I don’t buy into “have a spare in case yours is taken into evidence” because that is pretty remote and who cares if you switch carry guns for a while

I have a gun fetish. I collect them like a child would collect beene babies.

i have some c&r guns that i would like to have 2nds on for parts purposes for the most part. for me, caliber is the common denominator. 9mm, 38/357 and 45 in hand guns. keep prices down using same ammo and no confusion with the caliber sizes. might be confusion in a shtf moment, but i always check mags before leaving house w/ any weapon.

Two is always better. I have guns for when things go bad, and when things go bad I don't want to have one of anything.

I would say just to keep you sane, limit calibers, and limit magazine compatibility. So if you have a G19, buy a G17 or G34 which is even easier to shoot accurately but don't conceal as well. Then buy some 33 round fun sticks. But whatever you get, that family members can shoot it comfortably otherwise it's pointless.

My vote is that if your budget only allows for one or the other, I say diversify as much as possible. Especially if your shooting a lot or have the time to enjoy your collection the way you want to enjoy it.
Eventually you'll probably get to owning multiples of each and maybe decide that it's more practical to only have a few calibers, but in the mean time, don't forget to enjoy the hobby.
