AR15 vs hand gun
AR15 vs hand gun
Ok here it is. Just had a big blow out with someone about this. Checking to see who see's it my way and who see's it the other way. Between the AR15 and a hand gun, which would be the best for a non train individual to use for home defense? Keep in mind they have no search training and they can hit a target within 15 feet.

Re: AR15 vs hand gun
That makes three for the shotgun.
If I had to choose between those two for a non trained individual it would be a revolver, too many things could go “wrong” with an AR or a semi auto handgun.

Handgun.
Taking corners in a house with a long gun can be very tricky. Not a whole lot of room. Low capacity. No retention shooting. Shotgun also requires two hands to operate, if they get sliced or otherwise unable to use an arm or hand, it's useless. Just my opinion, though.

Non train individual. Bat, club, go start learning abut gun training.
Perfect time to train them to shoot all 3 type of gun. They'll know what they'll feel comfortable best in their own home.

Re: AR15 vs hand gun
Revolver.
Joe Biden recommends the shotgun for beginners. Sorry, the shotgun is absolutely the wrong thing to hand to a beginner. It is hard to hit with -- the pattern doesn't spread out to fill the room. Shotguns are nasty, hard-kicking guns that require plenty of instruction and practice to use effectively. Shotguns hurt people, and turn them off of shooting. Here is one of the many videos mocking Biden for recommending shotguns for beginners.
Carbines are much easier to use than shotguns, but much harder to use than revolvers. Think Jessica Lynch. She said her gun "jammed". Right, before firing even one shot. She didn't know how to load the damn thing, and/or she didn't know or didn't remember that there is a safety switch on the side.
For a person who wants a gun in the house for self-defense, and will go to the range once or twice for familiarization, but will not become a hobbyist/enthusiast...revolver.

Auditory and sensory occlusion will kick in during a self defense shoot. The shooter may hear the gun go off but it'll sound like it's 100 yards away if he/she does hear it.
And recoil? You won't remember there being any recoil at all after the shoot.

There you go. Biden is right.
That first (and only) practice session is not going to be very enjoyable though.

Handgun or Shotgun.
Handgun is better in tight areas.
Shotgun may be best for beginners especially if they aren't keeping a round chambered.

Re: Handgun - Revolver
I have to agree with that.
I have never liked videos where people post things like this.
There is nothing funny about it and people that deliberately do stuff like this are absolute idiots and should have their ass kicked.
