It's possible that the state recently started enforcing sales tax on these purchases, but I'm not sure if that's the case. It's also possible that the two companies just decided to start charging sales tax around the same time. It's always a good idea to check with your state's government website or contact them directly to find out if any recent changes to sales tax laws exist. If you want to keep track of your expenses, it's always a good idea to keep a paycheck stub and check the details of your purchases. It will make it easy to keep track of what you've paid and record all your payments.
