Yet another AR related shooting.

Make no mistake about it, our AR's are on the chopping block, and soon.

Hmmm,... there are approx. 15 million AR's in the USA,... that would be a whole lot of chopping, on the ol'e block!

I read the article....must have missed the part that said he had an AR-15.

Only mention of a weapon in the article, "Ross said the suspect had "some kind of .380" weapon on him when he was arrested."

Pennsylvania Gov. Tom Wolf is also looking to combat gun violence. Wolf's office said Wednesday he will sign an "executive order to make sweeping changes to executive branch agencies and programs to better target the public health crisis of gun violence."

Hill "likely" used an AR-15 rifle to fire at officers, Philadelphia Police Commissioner Richard Ross said. Hill also had a handgun in his pocket when he finally surrendered to police.

Mr Kenney called out politicians for their failure to address the gun crisis and confront the National Rifle Association's powerful gun rights lobby.

"It's aggravating, it's saddening," Mr Kenney said. "If the state and federal government don't want to stand up to the NRA and some other folks, then let us police ourselves."

He added: "Our officers deserve to be protected and they don't deserve to be shot at by a guy for hours with an unlimited supply of weapons and an unlimited supply of bullets."

The incident followed deadly mass shootings in California, Texas and Ohio, in which gunmen used semi-automatic rifles.

Philadelphia Mayor Jim Kenney said he was angry the gunman was able to amass such firepower.

“We’ve got to get these weapons out of people’s hands,” Kenney said after visiting wounded officers in the hospital.

Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand, D-N.Y., weighed in on gun violence during the standoff, admonishing the NRA.

"We must take legislative action to stop gun violence. But we also need to understand the corruption that makes politicians protect the NRA over American lives — and how right-wing judges in our courts enable it," Gillibrand tweeted. "We need to change that."

Sen. Cory Booker, D-N.J. retweeted a clip of Philadelphia Mayor Jim Kenney calling for gun control and Sen. Kamala Harris, D-Calif, challenged Republicans to pass the Bipartisan Background Checks Act.

Hill’s lengthy criminal record includes burglary charges, illegally taunting a police animal, aggravated assault, drugs, DUI, reckless endangerment and various gun charges, perjury and robbery––among other charges.

Hill, from Philadelphia, has been arrested roughly a dozen times since turning 18 and has been convicted six times on gun, drug and assault charges, the Inquirer reported. He has been in and out of prison, including serving time in federal prison, the newspaper reported.
