Steel bullet bans
How are you guys dealing with these steel bullet bans at the ranges? Rio, Ben Avery, PRGC, none of them allow ammo with steel cores or jackets.

Re: Steel bullet bans
I believe Rio is doing it now because of the fire danger. Once that"s over ...

Re: Steel bullet bans
I deal with it by not having to shoot at a range.
Though my former range in CA never had any such ban.

Re: Steel bullet bans
Are the RO's actually checking your ammunition choice? I would just shoot what I brought. Steel should not be attracting attention the way a tracer round would. Interesting stuff you are having to put up with.

When they see the green tip, I just tell them its spoilage and I'm using them up before they rot and turn black

I guess I'm not seeing what the problem is here. Especially at the indoor faculties. The steel core ammo is considerably more damaging to their stuff if you accidentally hit it.

Virtually all affordable 7.92x57, 7.62x39, and 7.62x54R has steel bullet material.XJThrottle wrote: ↑August 10th, 2019, 9:23 am I guess I'm not seeing what the problem is here. The range officers are actually checking the ammo with magnets.

Re: Steel bullet bans
And nobody knows how to get around these policies?
I once shot at an indoor range for a year that had a "no reloads" policy. Showed them the same 4 boxes of factory ammo every week for a year.

Re: Steel bullet bans
I was at Rio salado a few weeks ago blasting away wolf bimetal out of an sks. I can't imagine a ban on that would help their cause, especially since they are finally not being complete buttholes on the line.
Re: Steel bullet bans
A friend I contacted today said that he normally shoots there every week, but hasn't been for around 3 or 4 weeks at this point.
He said he's never had his ammo checked.

Re: Steel bullet bans
BA does not ban steel, unless shooting on steel targets.
