NRA "looted into insolvency"?

Scroll down (a long way) to Remus' Notebook:
The Trace - Secrecy, Self-Dealing, and Greed at the N.R.A. ... leaders have encouraged disastrous business ventures and questionable partnerships, and have marginalized those who object

Be aware The Trace is Bloomberg's anti-gun website, yet this expose is a "must read" for defenders of the second amendment. The NRA is in seriously deep financial trouble, this much is public knowledge. The NRA may founder and collapse, in fact, this is a likely outcome. If this essay is even mostly true, the NRA has been looted into insolvency.

Jeff Knox at Ammoland also details abuses at the NRA. An excerpt:

" ... Wayne’s [Wayne LaPierre] compensation rose rapidly from about $250,000 a year to almost $1,000,000.00. In the latest available IRS report from 2017, LaPierre’s total compensation was reported at $1.4 million, or about $117,000 per month, and a couple of years before that, he also got a distribution from his retirement fund of about $4 million, for a total compensation of more than $5 million that year.

It’s worth noting that he’s receiving this at a time when the NRA is over $30 million in the red, and the retirement fund is in negative numbers to the tune of almost $60 million. ... Wives, children, and other relatives of NRA executives and NRA contractors have routinely crisscrossed between the NRA and various vendors, drawing exorbitant salaries".

Fairfax has always smelled of elitism and the callous corruption that goes with it. Unless the NRA has a "come to Jesus" moment and acts on it, prepare for a shock. It may not survive. It may not deserve to survive.
I am sad to say I believe the prediction is true. LaPierre will retire a rich man, and the NRA will cease to exist.

All may be true,... but, when the name Bloomberg is on anything,... I will have to wait for solid verification.

nra has been having issues for quite a while, the money machine is putting outmore than it takes in, perks, special interest shiatheads, and the pundits of the "in charge group"", the perks alone these guys take are worth more than most ceos
' wages.

time for a rehab of mgt. get rid of a life time pres, and political guy, they do nothing but lube their pockets, much like the politicians they rub up against, how can one expect them to not get the "rash"

Greed is a very strong tempting advisory,... imo.

Not many can resist.

The NRA has always been the RINOs of gun groups. It's not surprising they run things the same as the RINOs in congress

I always took offense at letters I got from the NRA telling me that "my dues are not enough". No wonder they weren't enough. But I haven't been a member for about 5 years and I'm glad now that I didn't sign on as a life time member.

When they failed to excommunicate George Bush in 89' for his treason, the writing was on the wall and I left them and never looked back. They're getting what they deserve.

I'm not all that worried, if this is what is to come. If the NRA falls, there will be many in place to step up to take their place,... and, probably a better lot, to boot!

Personally I'm going to take a wait and see position.

I don't believe much of what I hear and some of what I see.

I was just about to say the same thing. Can't believe anything you see about subjects like this. Who knows at this point?
