Were you at McChord when you worked on the F-106? They transitioned right after I left in '83 to go to Upper Heyford.Bullzaye wrote: ↑January 6th, 2022, 9:02 pm
Good for you. I spent 14.5 years in the USAF, working on the avionics systems of the F-106 and the F-15. So, I guess I did more wrenching than you did. Not that it matters one tiny little bit, you could've been in the AF for 100 effing years, and you *can* call it whatever you bloody well please. You'll still be wrong. So..."get over that!"
I realize it's just a nickname for the A-10, and that's all well and good. They also call the B-52 "The Buff". But that doesn't make it the aircraft's name. Call the A-10 the Warthog all you want...I'm just saying, how about we also recognize it's actual name, to pay homage to the P-47, and all of the history involved with selecting the name for the A-10? Too many people have little or no knowledge of history, or the reasons for why things are named as they are. Maybe we can help instill some interest in that history, if we promote the actual nomenclature of aircraft, or whatever, when discussing them. Is that really such a painful pill for you to swallow?
Have a great, gun carryin', Kenpo day

No sir, I was at Griffiss AFB, Rome NY. We were the last active duty squadron to be flying the F-106, the 49th FIS. We were deactivated in 1987.
