Workplace shooting

#1

Post by Pro2a »

I had one today at my work.
I may still be in shock, but it doesn't seem to have changed my support of firearms, at least for now.
I'm not at liberty to be talking about it, so it's this vague for now, but once the anti-gun news has blabbed about it, I guess being more candid is a healing process.

Thanks guys.
I think shock is protecting me, I don’t feel wigged out, just can’t stop thinking about it.
I was hoping it turned out to be your basic ol’ ND, but it’s not seeming to be that way.

I see you listed Shooters World as your place of work on your profile, so I’m going to guess it was on there.

I’ve dealt with that 3 times while working in a shooting range, didn’t bother me at all. More of a pain in the ass getting the coroner to show up in a timely manner so I could re-open the store. One of the people left his target on the shooting lane, and it’s hanging on my fridge at home...no head shots on the paper target....

Hmm yes, I guess it does say that's one of my jobs.
I don't think I'm too bothered, but things do keep replaying in my head.
Our turnaround from incident to being cleaned and closed for the night was 5.5 hours.

That sounds about right from my experience, took most of the day. None of the three I dealt with ever made the news...it’s not sexy unless it’s at a school, so local news doesn’t care.

It’s not a matter of if it will happen on a public shooting range, it’s a matter of when. There isn’t anything you could have done from a range safety aspect...even the most diligent RSO can’t see everything (depending on where in the building it occurred).

Determined people will always find a way...I just wish they would do it privately, and not with range rental guns.

I think abc15 mentioned a teen accidentally shot himself at Shooter's World Peoria, or something like that, didn't sound fatal, but I wasn't really paying attention.
