3 men accused of shooting saguaro cactus, placing gun under child in seat carrier

Police on Tuesday identified three men accused of firing a handgun at a saguaro cactus near Piestewa Peak with a 1-year-old child nearby Monday evening.

The men were identified as Forte Nicholas, 29, Kyonnie Hodge, 38, and Aaron Bradford, 23, Phoenix police said.

Police responded to reports of shots fired near Piestewa Peak, located in a park north of 24th Street and Lincoln Drive, just after 6 p.m. and determined the men were firing at a saguaro cactus, Phoenix police spokesman Sgt. Armando Carbajal said.

Nicholas had his 1-year-old son with him in a seat carrier, Carbajal said.

Officers arrested the men and found the handgun in the child's seat carrier underneath the child, Carbajal said.

Carbajal said the men were booked on charges including endangerment and misconduct involving weapons.

One of the men is also facing a drug possession charge, Carbajal said.

It is my sincere hope that all men who shoot cactus are immediately captured by the cactus as it falls on them. Its happend more than once before and I hope it becomes a regular occurrence in the future.

But they look so innocent. Probably thought the cactus was going to hurt the one year old. At least the kid was in a car seat. However, reports are still unclear as to whether the child was properly secured to the car seat since the one year old was sitting on the gun. Or was it sh.ting on the gun? Hmmm. Seems like a good start for a diaper commercial to me.
