Solo blaster in 300blk

#1

Post by Pro2a »

I'm quite infatuated with this, being so Han Solo-ish
Also, it seems quite workable, with all the parts being prefabricated mil-spec without a ton of mods.
For those of you with machining experience, do you think that the little bit of milling or drilling/tapping would be a problem for those of us with no tools/experience?
Doesn't somebody make a left side bolt and upper already?
I think it would be cool to use a no FA upper, if they still make those?
Isn't 300BO all AR15 parts minus the bolt and barrel?
Is anyone game to take this on with me and compare notes?

300 BLKout is a shortened, necked up, 223 rem case,... uses same bolt and mags as 223/5.56 AR's,... barrel change and you are good to go.

Si, with the left side bolt and upper, looks like no home machining is necessary 👍🏽👍🏽

Han Solo's BlasTech DL-44 Blaster was based off a broom-handle Mauser...what you are building more closely resembles Cassian Andor's BlasTech A280-CFE from Rogue One.

But, it's still a cool build.

Yes...sorry. I've been thinking of building a dedicated 22LR pistol based on that prop from Rogue One. No gas system or buffer needed, and it will still be semi-auto.

Kind of interesting and makes sense as a suppressed pistol.

I'm trying real hard to like this pistol. I have a 300blkout and really like the caliber for the use I chose for it.

But, I am finding it really hard to decide a good use for a straight pull/bolt action pistol,... in a 30 cal. that doesn't do well burning all the powder with barrels shorter than 9 inches.

Now, don't take me wrong,... I like the non semi-auto side charging concept for subsonic. I used a combo upper with side charger and regular charging handle when I put my 24" bull barrel piece together. I put an adjustable gas block as well, but, for quick load changes to subsonic that don't cycle, the side charger is GREAT!!

But, like I said, I am finding it really hard to come up with a use this configuration would excel in,... considering the possible ballistic restraints. I'd like to know what the creator of this pistol is planning on hunting with it, and, what kind of loads he has developed.

Seems incredibly niche, even for a 300 Blk. I would also love to see the groups/distance this guy is shooting it at. I think he did it just for shits & giggles.

I would make a version in 22LR...again, kinda silly but interesting at the same time.
