March 3 2014. John was killed during a shootout with trash. John took a fatal round before he even got out of the car. He knew it was fatal but fought on. As he was slumping to the ground he continued the fight and was the one who stopped the man who killed him saving many lives. John fought on for a couple hours even with a round piercing his heart he wouldnt quit only succumbing about 3 hours later on the operating table. Truly the best of us.

I miss John. One of the best people I have ever met. Remember to wear the T-Shirt on March 3rd.

Man, seems like just yesterday. I remember exactly where I was and what I was doing when I heard that there was a shooting, and my mind immediately went to the two guys I personally knew at Phx PD. When I finally heard the name, I was devastated. John is deeply missed.

I need another shirt. Mine's starting to show it's age!

Up until a couple years ago I agreed with you. It sad John is gone but the story has become inspirational to me and reaffirming to me that there are still people worthy of being called heros and put others first.

There are lots of people I would love to emulate. I'm a crippled crotchety bastard who is frustrated with life and fight from becoming cynical. I'm an arshole whose not always easy to get along with. At times I might rise above my shortcomings but that's it. John's story is a shining example of what good people should be. If this were the turn of the 20th century you might see John's story in a dime novel about heros or lawmen. The would fail miserably at being a worthy tribute but they would try.

John Hobbs treated everyone and acted like you would expect such a hero and role model would. Always giving knowledge about guns and life freely. Always willing to help and up until and past his last act put others first.

John's loss is sad and because of his impact still hurts. John's story and life are anything but. I have said it many times, He is the best of us.

John was a saint
Super duper nice, 1911 aficionado
Dam how time flys
Both of my Hobbs shirts are worn out
Every so often I see one about town, and have to say “nice shirt”

An Officer and a Gentleman.Missed the 1911 and 1911 parts and building discussions.
The Model Police car is displayed in my living room as a reminder to never forget such a
good friend.
